“Odds and Sods…”

I have so much material to post whether it be narrative or photos and much of its timeliness is gone. Although the following photos are past their “best if used by…” date, they still give a flavor to my what I’m doing. So, even if these pictures are only worth a hundred words these days, that’s still something.

Hmm…what is it about this logo? I can’t exactly put my finger on it…

Going away party for Alex, one of the international teachers. If I moved the camera slightly to the left, you’d see the back entrance to EF. This is the 6th floor plaza and the restaurant is Ganges, a small chain of, you guessed, it Indian restaurants. It’s considered one of the best in Beijing. Dinner and drinks for 20 people came to 1500RMB, about $225.00. To put that into perspective, that’s two-thirds of one prix fixe dinner (drinks not included, service included) at the French Laundry in Napa County. “…Too much fucking perspective.”- David St. Hubbins; Spinal Tap

Alex. He was going to stay with me the month of September before heading off to Australia but his plans changed. He’ll be back for a couple of days at the end of the month and then it’s off to Australia. We bonded over our mutual loathing and detestation of religion, particularly the “desert dogma” that has blighted England, where he came from.

Not the best photo, but I want to introduce you to Madison (yes, from the eponymous movie) as you will be seeing many more pictures of her as she’s my new BFF. Stay tuned.

Kiki- who doesn’t love that name?

This was taken when I attended the art shows in early August. Chris (late of EF) joined us for dinner. I tried on his glasses and liked the look so much, I want to the well-known Silk Market, a few days ago to buy what turned out to be four pair of high-quality "knock-offs." OK, yes, I do look a bit gay here but any photo that flatters my visage gets serious consideration.

I tried on his glasses and liked the look so much, I want to the well-known Silk Market (specializing in counterfeit items), a few days ago and ended up buying four pair of high-quality “knock-offs.” OK, yes, I do look a bit gay here (“I was hoping you wouldn’t notice.”) but any photo that flatters my visage at this stage of my life gets serious consideration. Puka shells, anyone? (remember puka shell necklaces?) I also bought a “BOSE” bluetooth sound-system there for 300RMB ($45.00). Sure, $45.00 for a BOSE sound-system because, you know, that’s the going rate for BOSE speakers, right?
